I want to tell you about something that is an important part of UK culture; scones!
You can buy scones in Japan, but they are not the same as UK scones.
UK scones are not so sweet, and have only a few ingredients; flour, butter, milk, sugar, salt and baking powder.
You have to make scones quickly – because the butter shouldn’t melt. This makes the texture crumbly!

Scones are not so sweet, because we often eat them with jam, and sometimes cream! We eat them with a special cream, called “clotted cream”. I found this in a supermarket in Japan once, but the taste was strange. It’s ok if you can’t buy clotted cream, ordinary whipped cream is good too!
